The recent ban in the exportation of cashew nut from Ghana was not taken lightly and resulted in a number of accusations against the government. One school of thought even accused the government and President Mahama for that matter of deliberately and selfishly sabotaging its farmers.

However, Nana Opambour Bonsu, President for the Concerned Farmers Association in the Eastern Region of Ghana has jumped to the defence of the president of the country. Nana Opambuor who was speaking on Rite FM’s Agric Forum said Ghanaians should avoid unduly putting blame at the feet of the government in power for the ban.

This according to him is because the government is trying its possible best to ensure that it creates a level playing field for all in the country.

Nana Opambuor meanwhile noted that one of the problems confronting farmers was that there were no market centers for farmers for preservation. This according to him results in the difficulty to sell their products to the consumers.

In their bid to come to the rescue of the farmers, Nana Opambuor said the Concerned Farmers Association has located a market place for farmers which will soon be inaugurated at Akuapem in the eastern region.
