NADMO Gears Up Towards Rainy Season.

The National Disaster Management Organization in the Yilo and Manya Krobo Municipality have said that they are putting measures in place to help curb future occurrences in the municipalities as the rainy season draws closer.

Speaking to the Yilo Krobo Municipal NADMO Coordinator, Mr Michael Jackson Bruku on Rite Morning Ride said his outfit is working closely with the Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the area to desilt the drains in the municipality.

He said areas include Akutunya (SSNIT area), Dorhetso, Mout Mary Road (Onuma), Akuse Road, DC road, Odjador drains and other flood prone areas will seriously be monitored by NADMO to prevent any natural disaster in the municipality as the two assemblies has team up to work to prevent any future occurrences.

It can be recalled that in 2016, residents of Odjadonya, a suburb of Lower Manya was flooded leaving hundreds of people homeless and displaced, with properties destroyed.
The NADMO coordinator has therefore cautioned the general public to keep the environment clean and desist from dumping refuse into the gutters.

Mr Michael Jackson Bruku said they are poised to combat and avert any disaster through public education. Recent downpours saw some parts of Accra flooded claiming about eleven lives including two military officers.

Places such as the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Kanashie, Avenor, Alajo, among others were flooded, making some roads very difficult to access after a heavy downpour on Sunday evening.
