By: Austin Ofori Addo

Managing Director for Jokopam Vegetable Export, Mr. Opuni has expressed his content and relief at moves to lift the ban barring vegetable farmers from exporting their products.

According to Mr. Opuni, the move to lift the ban to pave the way for effective and proper vegetable exportation through education from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the United States Agency for International Development, USAID can only be in the right direction.

According to him, the steps to the lifting of the ban have been informed due largely to the country’s strict adherence to export conditions which were laid before it in order for the reversal of the ban. He said this did not deter them as they did due diligence to all the conditions through ‘hard work’ and determination which has moved them closer towards.

Mr. Opuni added that experts from the world market will come again to do their final checks before the ban will be finally.

He also added that the exportation of vegetables will now be strictly limited to vegetable farmers and this means that the education on proper vegetable farming will be streamlined towards the vegetable farmers.
