Mechanization Reduces Farm Labour

By Mary Dompreh:

Mr. Kwame Asare Amoakohene, Managing Director for CTA Engineering Ghana Ltd has been explaining what mechanization farming is. Speaking on Rite FM’s Agric Forum on Saturday, he explained that Mechanization is a system in which human labour is applied to power machines for their work.

According to him, the aim of CTA therefore is to promote mechanization and also to work for long which is the main driving force behind mehanization.

Explaining the three types of mechanization, Mr. Amoakohene said the first one being Hand Technology applies to that in which the hands directly applied such as in operating a Knapsack Sprayer which is part of the mechanization process.

The other he mentioned included Animal Technology which was the type of mechanization where animal power, such as that of a donkey together with human support is combined to plough a field or farm.

Mr. Kwame said that even some animals like donkeys are used for transportation purposes by using a trailer attached to the donkey so that they bring heavy duties from the farm to the house.

Explaining the other type of mechanization known as the mechanical power, he said this needs an engine which can be used for tractors and other types of machines, adding that it can be used to implement and help the machine to work and make working easier at the farm.
