MCE Cautions NIA Registration Officers To Stay Away From Bribe As Exercise Begins March 4

The registration of Ghanaians for a common national identification cards begins in the Eastern region across all 33 districts come March 4, 2020.

Addressing field officers who are currently undergoing a 4 day training workshop at the Apostolic Church in Somanya, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor asked officers who will be deployed to register citizens within the municipality not to take money from people and register them in secrecy.

According the MCE, the exercise is back by law and anybody who engage in any form of illegality will be dealt with the national laws.

A total of 143 personnels will be deployed to register citizens for six weeks starting Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in 44 electoral areas in Yilo Krobo Municipal

Mr Kupualor also asked officers to establish a good relation with the public as they go to seek information from them.

According to him, such quality relationship would enhance the quality of work data entering clerks will do.

Chiefs and other opinion leaders are expected to offer field officers the maximum cooperation and assistance required for a quality national data.

Though all Ghanaians will be issued with the NIA card, the current exercise will take care of 15 years and above Ghanaian nationals.

The training continues for field clerks till Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Yilo Krobo Minicipal capital, Somanya
