Manya Krobo: Chief Rewards Loyal, Hardworking Subjects

His Royal Majesty, Nene Olepeme Sakinor Nanor I, chief for the people of Suisi Okwenya and Adaduikworsi, Kodjonya in the Manya Krobo area has marked and celebrated 7 years of rulership as chief on the throne.

On Thursday, October 10, 2019, the people began a weeklong of celebrations to mark the 7th anniversary and ritual consecration of the accession to the throne of the traditional leader.

The celebrations witnessed many activities and parties with the venue for the grande durbar decorated with beautiful paraphernalia to mark the height of the celebrations.

 Nene Olepeme Sakinor Nanor I, who was outdoored after 7 days of  indoor life had rewarded men and women numbering 27; whom he observed as not just loyal and hardworking, but also supportive towards his quest to put the Suisi Okwenya clan on the world map.

Electronic gadgets worth thousands of Ghana Cedis were handed over to deserving persons during the consecration ceremony at Kodjonya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal.

Some recipients received electric stoves, refrigerators and akai flat screen television set ranging from 32 to 40 inches. Each of the 27 persons also received full piece of cloth.

 These persons included: Weku matse Elias, .John Emadorme, Sipim Lam Obenu, Sipim Osantey, Sipim Angmor Owuoadjao, Otsam Emmanuel, Aku Tetteh, Dade Matse Tetteh Tsu, Abraham Sackinor, Kobby, Philip Dapaah and the late Papa Nomo.

The rest were the late Mame Akpetiyo, the late Asafoatse Teye Dakli, the late Nene Dormesiako II, Mr Joseph, Atuna Micheal, Mr. Okroh, Manye Adem Dorah, Odjao Koryo, Agnes Yofini Nanor and Nanor Prince and Princess.

In his address, Nene Sakinor I appealed to his fellow traditional rulers to unite their families and clans, a call he believed would promote peace and development among entire Manya Krobo Traditional Area.

He also disclosed several plans for the development of the Okwenya area, meanwhile, invited the government, political leaders and investors to establish various developmental projects in the area as he was ready to offer lands for such purposes.

The first chief of Suisi Okwenya people said, making peace sometimes calls for struggle and toil thus, the drive which made him triggered court action five years ago, in reclaim of lost family property (land), encroached upon by some assailants.

In May 14, 2019, the Koforidua High Court adjudged in favour of the Suisi and Aduidi family as the legitimate owners of acrages of land in Okwenya area.

The installation of Nene Olepeme Sakinor Nanor I in 2012, brought family members together; has also secured for his subjects arable land and a new mansion at Okwenya, and also renovated the chief palace as well family house in Kodjonya.

In further submission, new chief palace, establishment of new culture center for reviving and strengthening Krobo culture, both to be situated at Okwenya; and growing of the Suisi division into a paramountcy are some projections Nene Olepeme intended to achieve in the immediate future.

The 42 years old king, ascended the throne on October, 2012 at age 35. Last week commemoration was full of glowing tributes from well-wishers including several chiefs who had come to witness the celebrations and wish him well.

The ceremony which was held at the royal home at Kodjonya was heavenly attended by divisional chiefs including Okpatakpla Sasraku IV of Manya Aklomuase, Nene Asare Odonkor II of Akwenor and Nene Zogli of Piengua.

The rest are Asafoatseme, the clergy, legal practitioners, members of Sra Presbytarian Choir, friends; far and near and the general public.

Nene Olepeme expressed gratitude to various chiefs and traditional leaders, the people of Okwenya and the general public for their support throughout the occasion.
