Mango Farmers Ready For Bumper Harvest

Mango farmers at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku district of the Greater Accra region are making a convincing claim of an expected bumper harvest this minor season which they attribute to the high rainfall pattern and sunshine recorded during the minor season.

According to Isaac Tetteh Kabu, a mango farmer in an interview on the Akuafo Se Sen segment of the Rite Morning Ride, they were likely to experience a bumper harvest this minor season due to the high rainfall and sunshine pattern recorded. But all this will come if all mango farmers take their agronomist activities and practices very serious, since that is what will help in the bumper development of the fruits.

He added that, even though they were likely to experience bumper harvest, they were still faced with huge challenges which need to be addressed. He said pest and other disease were most of the challenges they were facing. Also authorities and the departments of agriculture in the country must attend to their needs since their negligence to their sector remains a great threat to them as mango farmers.

He further added that, another problem they were encountering was marketing since this affects their profit margin. He said cost of chemicals and other agricultural input for farming were always at rapid increment whiles the price of mango fruits remain relatively cheaper which account for the high cost of farming activities in the country.
