Man Butcher’s Father

THE COMMUNITY One District Police have charged a 26-year-old man for inflicting cutlass wounds on his 70-year-old father at Site 17, Community One, Tema.

The said miscreant, Abdul Razak Issah Alhassan, a herdsman who was said to be a mentally retarded person, also stabbed two police officers stationed at the above-mentioned police station for attempting to cause his arrest soon after the incident.

Abdul Alhassan claimed his father had neglected him and often provokes him, consequently his decision to butcher him.

Issah Alhassan, father of the miscreant, was rushed to the Port Clinic in Tema where he is currently on admission and responding to treatment.

The two police officers who were wounded were also sent to the same health facility where they were treated and discharged.

Abdul Razak has been charged with causing harm and will be put before court after investigations are completed.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, explained that Madam Hawa Issah, mother of Abdul Razak Issah Alhassan, called at the police station on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 to report that her son had inflicted cutlass wounds on her husband.

Without wasting much time, the police, ASP Obeng stated, quickly moved to the scene to apprehend the suspect and in the cause of the arrest, Abdul Razak stabbed two policemen and took to his heels.

The police, with the help of some residents who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the incident, assisted in arresting Abdul Razak.

The police PRO further indicated that investigations showed that the miscreant is a psychiatric patient who is undergoing treatment at the Psychiatric Department of the Tema General Hospital.

She said Abdul Razak was sent to the Community District Police Headquarters and during interrogations, he was said to have disclosed to the police his reason for causing harm to the father.

According to ASP Juliana Obeng, Razak said, ‘I butchered my father because he has neglected me and he always provokes me.’

A visit to the Port Clinic revealed that the injured old man was responding to treatment.
