Makrosec Headmistress, Trader Crowned Miss Yokama 2019

Newly inducted headmistress of the Manya Krobo Senior High School, Mrs Agnes Nanor Narteh and Miss Florence Aku Tetteh, a trader are the Miss Yokama for 2019, Konor of Manya Krobo traditional Area, Nene Sackitey II announced.

The crowning of the two is the second successive time two women are being honored with the title instituted over a decade ago, to honour women of virtue who have contributed diversely towards the betterment of society. The Konor congratulated the two women and tasked them to continue to serve as role models for young women.
Mrs Nanor who willingly accepted the title, said she was happy to return home, after working in other parts of the country for several years to help previous Yokama holders in the discharge of their responsibilities. She therefore assures the people of Manya Krobo, especially young ladies to work hard to ensure brighter future for Kroboland.

The guest of honor for this year’s Yokama, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon Cynthia Mamle Morrison during her speech call for the mentorship of young girls.

Madam Morrison who congratulated the Queen mothers of the Manya Krobo traditional Area for their efforts at mentoring young girls said young girls stood the risk of bad influence if they were not rightly mentored.

The Minister was speaking during the ongoing ceremony to crown the 2019 miss Yokama (Virtuous woman) at Odumase Krobo as part of the 2019 Ngmayem festival.

She also donated an amount of Ghc 1000 towards the preparations of the festival.

Miss Yokama was instituted in 2003 by the Konor of Manya Krobo, Nene Sackitey II to honour virtuous women on Kroboland.
