President John Mahama Thursday paid glowing tribute to the late Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu.
He described the MP who was stabbed to death at his East Legon home early this month as a real gentleman who “always walked away with a smile.”
The president opened his fourth and final State of the Nation address in his first term in office with somber, reflective words.
He said even though as MP for Bole, he and JB Danquah-Adu “stood on different sides and pointed out what was wrong with our opponents,” we did it with respect.
President Mahama said the Abuakwa North MP “genuinely loved Ghana,” and “his absence from the House is both seen and felt.”
He said the late MP was industrious and would have contributed greatly to the development of Ghana if he lived long.
A 19-year-old convicted criminal, Daniel Asiedu, was arrested and is being prosecuted for the callous murder of the MP.
Police prosecutors say he has confessed to committing the offence but said he didn’t do it alone – there were two others who played roles in the commission of the crime. The police are currently conducting investigations to arrest the two other suspects.
