In a short ceremony on Monday October 7, 2019, at the Assembly Hall of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly, 51 continuing students from various tertiary institutions in the country received their letters granting them, government scholarship for 2019/2020 academic year.

This will be followed by cheques from the scholarship secretariats to the respective schools to credit the accounts of the students.

The scholarship covers students from both public and private tertiary institutions, reading Technical, Business and Commercial, Medicine, Linguistic, Hospitality, Education, Midwifery and Nursing programmes.

In his purpose for gathering address, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh thanked the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for decentralizing the scheme to the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies for easy access.

“ … previously, before you get government scholarship  you have to apply to their office in Accra, you have to chase it several time before you might even be called for the interview. Our president seeing the challenge that student would have to go through, under the current boss of the scholarship secretariat, it should be decentralized to the assemblies,” Simon Tetteh said.

Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh said even though metropolitans are qualified for a maximum of eighty thousand Ghana Cedis, his municipal has been granted eighty-two thousand Ghana Cedis, covering tuition fees for fifty-one students from both urban and rural belts of his municipality.

He has urged beneficiaries to tell the public about the good job the president is doing and also support him (president) by voting for him in the 2020 presidential election.

A level 200 Psychology student of University of Cape Coast, Naomi Narh-Korli said, it was to her surprise that she is one of the beneficiaries.
