LMVCA Responsible For Kumasi Market Fire – Baba Jamal Konneh

By: Krobea Asante Tofepa – Ntomentwene:

NDC’s Director of Communications in the Eastern region, Baba Jamal Konneh has pointed a direct finger accusing the pressure group of the biggest opposition party, NPP’s Let My Vote Count Alliance for deliberately setting the Kumasi central market ablaze to make the ruling National Democratic Congress unpopular ahead of the impending general elections in November.

According to him, the pressure group have warned to lynch people, cause commotions, destroy properties because the electoral commission has refused to heed to calls by the New Patriotic Party for compilation of a new voter register for 2016 elections.

Baba Jamal made this revelation and statement today on the Rite Morning Ride, when host of the show, Owuraku Asamoah questioned him about his view on comment made by general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia calling for immediate arrest of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumiah, running mate for NPP’s flagbearer Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo – Addo.

The general secretary’s call for Bawumiah’s arrest sterns on his recent allegations of seeing names of people from Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso and Cote divoire in the national voters register. Dr. Bawumiah in series of press releases has challenged the credibility of the voters register and has therefore called on the EC for a fresh compilation.

However, in a recent IPAC meeting with representatives of the various political parties, the EC agreed to sustain the current voter register, after a foreign private firm had scrutinized and audited the register only to realize that it was fit to hold the general elections.

“The Opposition Npp has no message to Ghanaians and will continue to make fabrications, and I therefore challenge Alhaji Budinga to come clearly what their message is” Baba Jamal added hesitatively.
In a statement, the communications director who spoke authoritatively said he was with total conviction that, the fire that gutted the Kumasi central market in the Ashanti region was engineered by members of the New Patriotic Party and the LMVCA, stressing that he could be called anywhere for his unique evidence to justify his assertion.

In a development, Alhaji Budinga first vice chairman of the Opposition Npp in the Eastern region has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. John Kudalor to immediately arrest the communications director to assist police in establishing the ghost hands behind the rage fire that has destroyed properties worth millions of cedi’s.
