Let My Vote Count To Stage Another Demonstration

The convener of the Let my Vote Count Alliance, David Asante, has hinted Rite fm that the group and its associates will organize another big demonstration in the streets of Accra to press home their demand for new voters register despite Wednesday’s brutalities at the hands of the police which brought their otherwise peaceful demonstration to an abrupt end.

Speaking on Thursday on the Rite Fm morning show, David Asante, insisted that the police prevented them from presenting their petition to the electoral commission to make way for a new voters register for the 2016 general elections.

“It has just began… we will continue to fight on till we get our wish and that of all peace loving Ghanaians…will get the new voters register since that will guarantee peaceful elections in the country next year,” he charged.

David Asante painfully recalled how the police brutalized some leaders and members of the group on their peaceful march to present their petition to the electoral commission, EC without any provocation.

He said the police in an attempt to prevent the demonstrators from entering the premise of the electoral commission, released hot water, fired rubber bullets, tear gas and other forms of weapons on them injuring a great number of the members whilst others were admitted at the hospital.

He lamented over why some protesters were assaulted physically by the law enforcers in the peaceful demonstration.
