Language Day Celebration Was A Success –Mad. Jesse Paditey.


Language Day Celebration, organized by the head of the Language Department of the Akro Senior High/Technical School, Mad. Jesse Paditey in an interview withRite News made it known that, the language day celebration which was organized to help the student learn through practical activities was a success.

According to her, this being the first edition of such a program in Manya Krobo, which is named “inauguration”, is to be introduced to the public.
We are therefore appealing to all major stakeholders to come on board and offer their unflinching support to the success of this initiative, said Mrs. Jesse Paditey.

It was very difficult to teach the students if the lessons are not activity based due to their poor performances, however,this program through drama and poetic recitals will help them with their core literature and enable them learn other subjects with ease, she disclosed.

The program is going to be continued yearly and it will be a three (3) day program whereby the role language plays in other departments would be featured, she added.

The “inauguration” was graced by the presence of the P.R.O. for Manya Krobo Traditional Council, Nene Asada Ahor I, Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, Akro Senior High/Tech. School Old Students Executives, Mr. Shaibu Karima (President), Mr. Joseph bright Aderko (Secretary) and Mr. John Tetteh Osragbo(Financial Sec.), 2nd Cycle School’s Coordinator from the Municipal Education Office, Mr. Evans Ablo, Human Resource Manager for Manya Krobo Rural Bank, Mrs. Monica Angmorkuor Padi, Children of the Founder of the School, Madam Mary Larko Djabanor and Mr. Philip Sower, School Chaplain, Rev. F.L. Adamanse, Head of Department for Akuse Senior High School, Mr. Prosper Honu, Headmaster for Akro Senior High/Technical School, Mr. Philip Narh Donkor and the program was chaired by the Assistant Headmaster for Administration, Mr. Prince Henry Nartey.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, applauded the organizers and advised the students to take advantage of the opportunity given them to learn hard to achieve great in future.
He then gave a sum of one thousand Ghana cedis (1,000.00ghs) to the school to help promote the program.

He also threw a challenge to the language department that they should produce good grades and he would surprise them. “Produce good grades and I will surprise you with a package”, he said.

P.R.O for Manya Krobo Traditional Council, Nene Asada Ahor stated that it’s really a good thing bringing such program into existence and wishes it stays. It will be a very good thing if every tribe will take their local language seriously especially in our various schools, he said.

He noted that, the traditional board will sit and talk of how to make this program last long and give out any help they can because it is really beneficial.
He added that students should be serious with their studies especially the girl child and it will help. And also said they should cease this opportunity as they have to pay no school fees and dedicate themselves to their books in order not to waste tax payer’s money.

Mr. Shaibu Karimu, the president of the Old Students of Akro senior high/technical school made his submission showering praises on the organizers, and thanked them for organizing such a wonderful program to enable Akro sec/tech become one of the schools that can compete among the A class schools we have in Ghana.

Just as Aristotle once said, “You are what you are, if you repeatedly do what you do”, Mr. Karimu, urged the students to learn to learn and academic excellence would be their portion.

After the speeches and all the performances by the students, Indomie, the proud sponsors of the program awarded groups such as cadet, drama troop, clama group, poetry dramatization group and some individuals with books and boxes of indomie for performing exceptionally.
