Land Donation Not A Priority – Nana Opambuor

Chief of Krodua in the Upper West Akyem district, Nana Barima Kwame Amin II has donated 500 acres of land to COCOBOD as his token to the institution towards the successful implementation of the ‘Youth In Cocoa’ program which is an initiative of the COCOBOD.

But Nana Opambour Boateng, president for the Concerned Farmers Association is not impressed with the gesture. According to him, this is not a priority. Explaining his position, he accused COCOBOD of sacrificing some 2000 acres of cocoa plantation at Asika for rubber cultivation.

This according to Nana Opambuor, prioritizing what we already have should be the focus of the Cocoa body. He added that even the government has given some seedlings to farmers to plant, something that has been left to waste. According to Nana Opambuor, the 500 acres of land donated is not worth celebrating and therefore of little interest to farmers.
