Lack of Communication Contribute to Low Price – President Jacob to Farmers

The President of Akuafo Market Association of Ghana has said most farmers lose at the end of their harvest due to lack of effective and efficient communication between the farmers and the retailers that patronage their products at the various markets.

He stressed, others too lose at the end because of lack of proper record keeping, knowing what exactly they have invested in to the farming.

“Lack of effective and efficient communication and collaboration between farmers to determine standard prices of their products make some of them (farmers) sell the same products under the trending prices which go against them. Some too do not engage the market women who buy from them on the activities they go through during the course of the farming. At the end, the market women decide the price without taking into consideration what went into it.”

Mr. Jacob Adzikah encouraged farmers to subscribe to modern means of marketing their products than the tradional and the farm base market, where farmers send their product to the market or bring buyers to the farm to buy.

“Farmers should take advantage of technology to market their products through online marketing avenues which open the product to more prospective buyers than the traditional and the farm base market,” he advised.
