Our Outlook For 2016 Is Peace – Lawyer Amoatey

By Michael Oberteye:

“Our outlook for the year 2016 is that it should continue to be a peaceful year for us in Yilo Krobo. We should continue to have prosperity and even in our diverse thoughts we should continue to have unity and know that as a people, we’ll still be faced with some social, political and economic challenges…” this is part of a message contained in a 2016 New Year message from Member of Parliament for the Yilo Krobo constituency in the Eastern region to his constituents and the country at large.

The Member of Parliament for the Yilo Krobo constituency, Lawyer Magnus Kofi Amoatey has sent a goodwill message to the people of his constituency and the country as a whole, the core of his goodwill bounding on peace and development.

In an interview with Rite news, the astute veteran politician who’s seeking a second term to serve his people told this reporter, “I want to join the people of Yilo Krobo to thank the almighty God for seeing us through 2015. 2015 has been an eventful year in the life of all Ghanaians.” While acknowledging the fact that Ghanaians went through turbulent times such as the energy crisis as well as financial and economic challenges in the past year, he still was grateful that his constituency was largely pared any “serious calamity.”

That is not all; he urged the people to be hardworking in whatever field or chosen career they find themselves, be it farming, a market woman, a teacher, a student, etc and do it to the best of their capacity and capabilities. This is to ensure that at the end of the day, ‘we’ll all be contributing to the economy of Yilo Krobo,’ he added.

On the upcoming elections, the MP was particularly cautious. According to him, we are all going to be faced with divergent views and opinions and it’s only when we accept these as part of democracy that the coast shall be clear. Lawyer Amoatey as his constituents affectionately call him urged his colleague politicians to play it safe, clean and neat. He decried the habit of character assassination, lies and causing disaffection for each other.

To the followers of the politicians, he noted that election related problems were always not the cause of politicians but those who follow them. To him, the best way of maintaining peace in the constituency is going through peaceful polls.

In conclusion he wished for good health, prosperity, peace an God’s blessings for his people.
