National Democratic Congress, NDC constituency executives in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern region have demonstrated their readiness to support ‘aggrieved Krobo women’ put the ‘stop’ sign post to Assin-North Member of Parliament, honourable Kennedy Agyepong who is scheduled to visit the constituency in the coming days.
Their comments, according to them, comes in the wake of ‘intelligence reports’ they had picked up indicating that Krobo women who felt insulted through honourable Kennedy Agyepong’s ‘verbal diarrhoea’ when he launched scathing attacks on the EC chair, were destined to take to the streets and show their displeasure against the MP should he step foot on Krobo soil.
The executives who made this known at a press conference at Odumase on Tuesday afternoon noted that they were taking this stance against the member of parliament due to what they termed his ‘unsavoury’ attacks against the Electoral Commissioner, miss charlotte Osei. The comment of Mr. Agyepong, the party scribes noted, was not only against madam Osei but also against Krobo women and Ghanaian women at large
Addressing the gathering, the NDC’s constituency Communications Director, Mr. Paul Bradly Opata, also described as a fallacy, purported reports of defection of NDC members to the main opposition, New Patriotic Party.
According to him, a planned demonstration by so-called aggrieved NDC members against the NDC government was nothing short of a ploy by a group of people to misrepresent themselves as NDC members and make the NDC party unpopular. According to him, some aggrieved members of the party who fell out with the NDC in the constituency were behind the scheme and he therefore called on ‘true’ party faithful to disregard the call.
Other executive members present at the press conference included constituency secretary, Fred Adenan, vice chairman, Mr. Alex Konotey, women’s organizer, Esther Nartey, deputy constituency secretary, Eric Kwame, Korletey Samuel, constituency organizer, Amina Abass, treasurer, Delight Arku as well as executive members Gifty Tortime and Giddy Stephen Tawiah.
