Ken Kuranchie, Blakk Rasta face Parliament today

Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper Ken Kuranchie has also been invited by Parliament’s Privileges Committee over claims made by radio host, Blakk Rasta that over 80% of Members of Parliament smoke Marijuana or ‘wee’.

The Daily Searchlight Newspaper is said to have published in its June 17 edition the alleged defamatory comments made by Blakk Rasta which he made on Hitz FM.

Blakk Rasta has been invited to appear before the Committee on Thursday to prove his claim.

According to a letter inviting the musician and radio host, the Committee invited Blakk Rasta after the MP for Afigya-Sekyere East, David Hennric Yeboah drew the “attention of the Rt. Hon. Speaker and the House” to the newspaper publication.

The letter added that “having regard to the complaint and the sentiments expressed by Hon. Members on same, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 31 referred your conduct to the Committee of Privileges for investigation and report.”

Meanwhile, speaking on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, Ken Kuranchie explained that publishing the story in his newspaper does not suggest that his outfit was in support of the said claim.

“If our honourable members read the Daily Searchlight carefully, they would have seen certain things in the paper that showed clearly that we are not totally in tune with Mr Blakk Rasta and the pronouncement that he made,” Ken Kuranchie added.

Ken Kuranchie who is being invited as a witness in the case assured that “I will go to Parliament [today], listen to them and see how this concern can be addressed.”

He further chastised Blakk Rasta saying “if what Blakk Rasta was fighting for was the legalization of Marijuana, he could have done so without actually saying that somebody also uses the drug.”
