Indian High Commissioner in Ghana Plants Trees to Mark World Environment Day

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Birender Singh Yadav, has urged Ghanaians to protect the environment by planting more trees in the country.

Planting more trees he said will promote healthy and longer life.

In a tree planting exercise to commemorate the World Environment Day at Tema, H.E Yadav pleaded on the government of Ghana to protect forrest reserves by enforcing laws in the country.

The 2019 World Environment Day was marked across the globe under the theme “beat air pollution”.

The global United Nations campaign is aiming to raise awareness of climate change and environmental issues.

The Indian fraternity in Ghana will continue to plant more tress across the country to protect to the environment.  

Meanwhile, the convener for Green Republic Project, Nana Yaw Osei Darkwah promised, they will plant 20million tress across Ghana within the next ten years.

He also has called on the government to set aside a day for tree planting; National Tree Planting Day, to involve every individual plant at least a tree.

The Assembly member for Halticulture Electoral Area, Hon. Richard Ennin commended the Indian High Commissioner for his initiative and promised to protect the planted tress across the schools in Tema, since they planted it at the right time.
