Inadequate irrigation facilities affecting dry season farming- Farmer

Mr. Lemuel Quarshie, 2012 National Best farmer has appealed to government to construct more dams at all farming areas, nationwide. This he said would increase food production and food security.

RITE FM News in an interview with Mr. Quarshie noted that most of the farmers in the country depend on rain for their production and the construction of irrigation dams will engage them all year round to maximize their profit.

He called for massive investments in the construction of irrigation dams to ensure year-round farming.

Mr. Quarshie explained that the traditional way of determining the rainfall patterns is no longer effective, therefore, rain-fed agriculture had been adversely affected.

Another issue hampering their business is the deplorable state of roads to their farms which prevents traders from coming to their farms and also inadequate storage facilities.
