“I Will Win Lower Manya Seat” – Deputy Eastern Regional Minister Assures

Eastern Regional Deputy Minister, Mr.Samuel Nuatey Ayertey, was on Friday August 2, 2019 filed his nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primary election on the ticket of the New Patrotic Party (NPP) in the second term in Lower Manya Constituecy.

He has, therefore, given an assurance to win the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the coming 2020 general elections should he be given the nod to win parliamentary election of the NPP in September 2019.

Mr Ayertey whom many people discribed as a home grown boy expressed his commitment to strengthening the structures of the NPP in the constituency for victory in the 2020 general elections.

He stated that the electorate in the area have lost faith in the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament (MP) and were yearning for a change, hence his decision to contest the primaries in the second term to win the seat for the NPP.

Speaking in an interview after he filed his nomination to contest the Lower Manya NPP parliamentary primaries, Mr Ayertey asserted that the current situation of the NDC in the constituency left much to be desired.

This, according to him, was largely due to lack of coordination among the youth and weak NDC structures, which has made the party ineffective on the ground in the area.

The NPP parliamentary aspirant said there is a strong feeling among the majority of party activists that he has the proven excellent skills to turn things around and have persistently asked him to represent them in Parliament to retain the seat for the NDC.

He maintained that the NPP sympathisers and activists sincerely believe that his choice as MP means peace and socioeconomic development and growth for the area.

According to Mr Ayertey, his proven skills as the current Deputy Eastern Regional Minister would also promote various initiatives and teamwork so that together they would identify and prioritise the needs of the constituency.

He assured to embark on a massive re-organisation from the grassroots when given the nod, which according to him, is the only way forward to make significant impact to win the 2020 election.

According to him, the people of Lower Manya Constituecy has been voting for the NDC since 1992 but when he contested the seat with the NDC in 2016 general election, he was able to close the gap by way of recording a total of 19, 338 votes as against the NDC scoring of 19, 710 votes margins to win the seat in 2016 showdown.

This, he explained means that “l closed the gap with 327 votes in 2016 general election which was very unprecedented achievement ever since 1992 in the political history of the constituecy.”

“l won 78 polling stations out of 131 polling stations. So the NDC beat me becauae they have strong electoral upper hand over the Lower Manya Constituecy. But this time round l have many friends in the NDC, who are ready to vote for me to win the seat to be able to bring massive socioeconomic development to the area. Now that we are in political power and as the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister l have very good leverage to work assiduously to win this seat for the NPP.

“I believe to win the seat for the NPP because President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo himself want us to take this seat from the NDC. So l want to assure the President if l am given the nod to win the parliamentary primary election l would work to ensure that we take the seat for the NPP in to order to develop the area,” he assured.

He indicated that he has human relations ability to continue to unite the rank and file of the party if given the nod to contest as a parliamentary candidate for Lower Manya.

He stated that his developmental agenda for the constituency and the party could not be achieved without uniting the people he would work with and stated his readiness to work with all.

Mr Ayertey pointed out that it is time to gether as one people we united to address our differences and shored-up the things that unite them.

He asked the people to put aside their past differences and work together for a landslide victory in 2020.

He urged the party members to rally behind him to take the parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress.

He expressed worry over the deplorable state of road networks in the constituecy saying that he was currently talking to the authorities of Feeder Road Department to fix the situation and futher promised to improve various road networks if he win the primaries and subsequently win the seat to become the MP of the area.

According to him, the bad nature of the roads within the area particularly the Akuse township road are great worry him, saying that the roads would definitely see better improvement under his administration should he be give the nod to win the seat.

Mr Ayertey stated that he has what it takes to work with the chiefs and people to prioritize the employment, health, education, sanitation, and security needs of the people in the area and called on the delegates to vote massively for him incoming September 2019 NPP parliamentary primaries.
