Hold Chiefs Responsible For Drought

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana, (CFGG) is highly disappointed in chiefs of various farming communities across the country for not doing enough to help alleviate the effects of the drought that is currently taking its toll on most farming communities in the country. The situation, according to them, if not checked could lead to extreme droughts and water shortage, resulting in hunger.

The group traces the cause of some of these dangers to the chiefs of various communities, accusing them of encouraging or looking on while illegal galamsey operators continue to pollute water bodies with poisonous chemicals.

This, the group notes, is a threat to humanity and agriculture and it is unacceptable. ‘We immediately call on our chiefs to act now and stop supporting these galamsey operators which could have a serious natural disaster if our call is not heed. We the members of (CFAG) will however like to thank the President John Mahama for his support and enhancing the welfare of the Ghanaian Farmers,” the group noted.
