Help SADA programmme to succeed – Veep

Vice President, Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has tasked chiefs, the management and board members of the Savanna Agriculture Development Authority (SADA) to ensure the success of the SADA programme.

He noted that the resource potential of the SADA Ecological Zone if well harnessed would help eradicate poverty, improve the income of farmers and modernise agriculture to improve the economy.

He further urged the management and board to use the failure of some of the projects as a guide in their quest to make SADA a viable intervention to bridge the developmental gap between the north and the south.

The Vice President made this known when he officially opened the SADA Business and Investment Forum (SABIF) 2015 at the Tamale Sports Stadium yesterday.

Mr Amissah-Arthur praised the various brains behind the concept and called on all stakeholders to work assiduously to make SADA a success so that it could attract investors to help utilise the resource potential of the SADA Ecological Zone.

The four-day forum which is a collaboration between SADA and the Ghana Institute of Engineers (GHiE), on the theme ” Engineering opportunities and shared prosperity in the Savannah Region of Ghana” is designed to fast track integrated, sustainable and rapid infrastructure development in the SADA Zone.

The forum which also formed part of this year’s Engineering Week celebration of the GHiE brought together international and local investors, as well as key stakeholders, and it is expected to improve home-grown investment opportunities such as agriculture, agro-business and infrastructure.

The Vice President also called on the SADA board to strengthen their collaboration with other relevant agencies, especially the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) to leverage the investment potentials of the zone for the benefit of the people.

Mr Amissah-Arthur also appealed to traditional authorities in the SADA
