Growing Closeness Between Rawlings And Akuffo Addo Diabolical And Unholy – Walter Homenu

Constituency Chairman of the Lower Manya Krobo branch of the National Democratic Congress in the Eastern Region, Mr. David Walter Homenu has descended heavily on his party Founder, ex-president Jerry John Rawlings, describing his relationship with New Patriotic Party leader Nana Akuffo Addo as diabolical and unholy.

Mr. Homenu, who was speaking on Rite FM’s hot political show, ‘Platform’ on Thursday, registered his discontentment at the brewing closeness between the once fierce political rivals. This follows criticisms by the founder of the party against comments reportedly made by former Transport minister, miss Dzifa Ativor which many individuals and groups have labeled ethnocentric. The former president in his condemnation went further to refute allegations that the NPP leader was tribalistic.

But the constituency chairman is peeved by the remarks of his founder. ‘Some of us are very uncomfortable about the latest relationship between the Rawlingses and Akuffo Addo… were you not in this country when Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is telling everybody to shun the NDC and vote for Akuffo Addo?’ Mr. Homenu queried.

According to the NDC scribe no serious democracy would allow this kind of development where a party Founder would endorse the presidential candidate of his political opponents.

The NDC chairman who chastised the NPP on its relationship with his party founder said they cannot ride on the back of Jerry Rawlings’ friendship with Nana Akuffo Addo to victory in the November polls.

Meanwhile Mr. Homenu noted that, criticisms against Former Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor on comments she made and which have been described as ethnocentric were unfair. Defending his stance, he compared the comments Miss Dzifa made, urging people of Volta extraction to ensure victory for the NDC to avoid Ewes going to jail, to what he termed, similar comments made by NPP functionaries in the past.

‘’Dzifa Ativor was speaking from a corporate perspective. Her perspective on the trial and jailing of those individuals she mentioned is the same position that the NDC holds.’

To him, the former minister was only being cautions and warning her people of the potential of the NPP to jail indigenes of the region in case they win the 2016 elections.
