Grasscutter Farmers Cry For Assistance

Grasscutter farmers in the eastern region are calling on the government to come on board and assist them in their production which is currently bedeviled with severe challenges. Mr. Stephen Terkper  a grasscutter at Asitey near Odumase Korbo in the eastern region  in an interview with Rite Fm, said that they have never received any assistance from the government despite repeated calls, leaving them convinced that they don’t regard them.

He said even though the grasscutter farming was a lucrative business they have been confronted with several challenges which includes that of management, inadequate structures to serve as housing for the animals, bad weather conditions, feeding challenges and inadequate financial challenges among others.

He lamented that in spite of their challenges and subsequent neglect from government, they continue to lobby government to come to their aid in terms of the provision of drugs, infrastructure as well as financial support.

He added that the provision of such support will go a long way to even create great opportunities for unemployed graduates in the country.
