Government Set To Renovate 5 Markets In Lower Manya Krobo

Markets, numbering five (5), have been awarded contract in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.
This was disclosed when the Deputy Minister for Eastern Region and NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr. Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh and some Party executives visited these markets on Monday, 13th January, 2020.
The visitation was among other things to inform and engage key stakeholders including the land owners and market sellers about the conversion plans prior to the construction.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive, the markets would witness modern structures to boost economic activities in the Municipality as trading is one of the major occupation by the people of Lower Manya.
The one million dollar per constituency projects which contract have been awarded for construction to commence by the Middle belt Development Authority include Laasi market, Atua Market, Akuse market, Kpong market and Kpongunor market.
On his part, Mr. Ayertey said, as part of Government plans to bring major development and boost economic activities in the Municipality, they have decided to modernize all the existing markets whose approval have been made for work to commence.
Addressing the sellers in Akuse, the two government appointees revealed that Okwenya to Asutsuare junction road(17km) will soon receive a major face-lift in this year. Also, storm drains would be constructed to lessen the degree of erosion, prevent flooding and other environmental and health issues in Akuse.


The market sellers who are mostly women, were very excited about government’s plan in converting the existing market structures into new modern markets.
A landowner, Mr. Benjamin Kwame Mensah who represents Angmor Bodoo Mensah’s family of Korletsom said the decision to consult stakeholders before the commencement of the project was a good one adding that most at times, they only hear about the projects in their vicinity when machines have been brought to site.
The Deputy Minister who outlined the plans of His Excellency Akufo-Addo for Lower Manya also said his constituents will experience major developments at the end of 2020.
The market sellers pledged their support to help realized this great vision of the Nana Addo government.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo Hon Ebenezer Okletey Teye Larbi speaking on Rite FM’s political program Asem Yi Di Ka, said the move is meant to silence his development effort, since he has already commenced the renovation of the market.
