A fatal accident involving two vehicles from opposite directions claimed the life a 60 year old mason, leaving ten other persons onbaord in critical conditions.
A Hyundai bus with registered number GE 7044 Y, heading towards Accra has collided head-on with a Toyota pick-up with registration number GN 5233-13 heading to Somanya in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred at Akorley, some few minutes drive away from the mango Park House in the Yilo Krobo Municipality in the early hours of the evening of Tuesday, 1 June 2021.
Report gathered by Rite FM’s Austin Ofori Addo said the Hyundai bus veered off its lane in an attempt to dodge a pothole.
Eye witness also says the commercial Hyundai vehicle was over speeding to over take other vehicles.
Including a three-year-old boy, the injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Atua Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal in the Eastern Region.
Meanwhile, two persons are surviving under the support of oxygen with the rest suffering serious wounds.
According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, a total of 1,034 road accident deaths were recorded between January and April 2021.
