A VRA bus believed to be conveying 69 passengers from a funeral at Akim Oda to Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District has involved in an accident at Asitey valley in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
Eight person were confirmed dead at the Atua Government Hospital while several others sustain various degree of injuries.
Source says these victims are members of the St. Barbara Catholic church in Akosombo
The injured victims according to source are currently receiving treatment at the St. Martins Hospital at Agormanya.
The incident occurred at about 9pm on Saturday June 15, 2019
At press time, most of the injured were being prepared for transfer to the St Joseph’s Hospital, Koforidua for further treatment.
Reports say the accident occurred from a break failure as the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.
The enclave is notorious for several accidents as many continue to perish.
