Getting the Rearing for Food and Jobs to work-minister meets MMDCEs

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has met with selected MMDCEs to discuss targets and ongoing implementation strategies of Rearing for Food and Jobs to elaborate on their role in the government flagship agricultural programs.

H.E the President recently launched the Rearing for Food and Jobs programme (RFJ) in Wa to improve meat production in Ghana to reduce importation.

To carry out the vision of the President, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Minister for Food & Agriculture has met with some selected MMDCs across the country to set targets and map out strategies to revamp the Poultry and livestock sector in the county.

This initiative is expected to reduce the importation of Meat and Poultry products into the country. Planting for Food and Jobs has over the past two years yielded lots of feed for a successful implementation of RFJ.

The Hon. Minister as a matter of agency has empowered all MMDCs to select prospective poultry farms to participate in the programme

He equally tasked them to acquire lands for the construction of farm houses within their administrative areas.

He also urged MMDCs to take inventory of existing and collapsed poultry farms to inform a decision to revamp them.
