GES Commends Kings and Queens Scientific International High School Facilities and Academic Programmes.

A monitoring and inspection team of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has applauded the vision for human resource development path, the Kings and Queens Scientific International Senior High School (KQSHS) has adapted as the right way to improve the country’s labor needs in the health sector.

In an inspection meeting on Thursday, a team of 5 members from the Lower Manya Krobo Education Directorate, led by Mr. Samuel Kpabitey, Head of Monitoring was impressed with the infrastructure quality the team has observed.

“Apart from the structure, the vision of the proprietor is indescribable. I could see his concern with human development and people’s well-being,” Mr. Evans Ablor, Head of Finance and Administration, who spoke on behalf of the team told Rite 90.1 FM after the insspection.

He, therefore, called on Ghanaian parents whose children are eager to be doctors and health professionals, especially Krobos to grab the opportunity

“…I will recommend to not only Krobos, but all Ghanaians who want their child to catch up in the medical field,” Mr. Evans added.

 The KQSHS is currently offering admission exclusively for students with a passion to become medical or health professionals in the future.

The school is located off Akosombo-Tema Motor Way near Akuse Junction in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region.

Bearing some few weeks to begin the academic work, the GES officials have come to inspect the school’s facilities including classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and library.

The rest were auxiliary facilities such as staff common room, principal’s office, general administration office and places of convenience.

Dr. Jerryson Ameworgbe Gidisu – Principal of the school, who took the officials round for inspections, also noted that the least qualification among his teaching staff was going to be Masters’ Degree holders in the field of health. He also revealed that while the school operates both traditional and E-library systems, teachers will adopt android led screens for teaching and learning.

 This means each student on admission will be offered a personal laptop computer and a pen drive to enable learners to get direct access to teachers’ lesson notes in a soft copy. This will avoid students buying textbooks in their hard copies.

Serving as the tertiary stream for the SHS, Kings and Queens Medical University College is established to absorb graduates interested to become Doctors, Dentists, Optometrists, Nurses, Midwives, Laboratory Scientists, Pharmacists, Pediatricians and Hematologists among others.

Having been tailored to produce quality health specialists with in-depth skill and knowledge, KQSHS is deviating from the norm to run SHS academic subjects such as  Pre-Medical School Preparation, which will provide basic skills in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy,  Optometry,  Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science. The rest are Purely Science courses including Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology; Chinese Language Training and the traditional core subjects excluding Social Studies. Information Communication Technology (ICT) is set to replace Social Studies for the importance of technology in modern day health delivery.

Students’ dormitory

It is expected that after 3 years of SHS studies from KQSHS, learners acquire the basic skills in health care to propel them for the Kings and Queens Medical University College School of Medicine.

Classroom

  Successful applicants who under took their medical examination are waiting for admission deadline to sit for the entrance examination and career counseling.

 All things been equal, academic activities will begin June 1, 2021.

Individuals of all ages among the general public who have the desire or need certification for the Chinese language only are also invited.
