Frozen Chicken Is Collapsing Our Work-Poultry Farmers

Poultry farmers in the Shai Osudoku district of the Greater Accra region are not happy about how frozen chicken has taken over their work after the media broke the news about the bird flu in Ghana according. This is according to Mr Emmanuel Laledji, a poultry farmer in the Shai Osudoku District.

Speaking on the Rite Morning Ride on Tuesday, Mr. Laledji said he has about eight hundred broilers and layers but which unfortunately the general public is not patronizing. He attributed the downfall in the patronage of their birds to the fear of the outbreak of the bird flu which rocked the country in the past year.  He added that when they called on customers to come and buy their poultry they refused, all in the wake of the disease.

A distraught Mr. Laledji added that even hotels and restaurants which used to be their biggest customers were now depending on frozen chicken. While they also partly attributed this to the bird flu scare, Mr Laledji also attributed this to the cheap frozen poultry and this was collapsing their work.
