Free SHS Includes TVET – Gifty Twum Replies Mahama

A Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency has hit back on the former president john Dramani Mahama for promising Ghanaians, free TVET when voted into power.

Hon Twum Ampofo Gifty asked the National Democratic Congress’ flag bearer for the 2020 presidential election to wake up from slumber following his free TVET campaign promise.

“John Mahama is still not awake from his slumber after 2016 election, so he must wake because the TVET is already under the government free senior high school policy,” Hon Gifty told Austin Ofori Addo on Morning Ride.
It will be recalled that during the launch of NDC’s Electronic Payment Platform held in Accra to enable party members and sympathizers contribute financially towards the 2020 campaign, former President John Mahama has stressed that when voted into power, he will make technical and vocational schools free from second circle to tertiary levels.
“My return to power will see massive transformation in various sectors, especially education. This transformation, will include the abolishing of the double track system under free SHS and free Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) at all levels,” Mr Mahama noted.
“ We will cancel the teacher licensure exams as well, and bring back the automatic promotion of teachers. NPP says we introduced the licensure exams; to be clear we never sort to use exams as a means of licensing teachers; he said.
Hon Gifty Twum challenged former President Mahama saying; “the licensure exam was introduced by him (Prez Mahama) and it was even in their 2016 budget.”
She finally appealed to Ghanaians to ignore the NDC and their flag bearer John Dramani Mahama because they have nothing to offer the country.
