Farmers to Benefit from IFDC Support Programme

International fertilizer development co-operation (IFDC) is a none-governmental organization (NGO) that is supporting farmers to enhance their ability to produce more.

Speaking to Rite News in an interview, the cluster advisor of IFDC, Mr. Divine James Buo said they are running a five year programme which started in 2012 to support certain crops that the organization has identified and the way they can help the farmers cultivate those crops to improve their quality.

He said the crops and some animals identified are mushroom, rice, vegetables, citrus, pineapple, mango, soya beans and guinea fowl in both northern and the southern part of the country.

Famers will benefit from both financial and agricultural products which will help to improve on their production. He noted.

Mr. Divine further stated that his outfit is working with farmers to increase their productivity indicating that some of the challenges are in the area of post-harvest loses, fruit flies, access to credit facilities and some other problems affecting the farmers in some part of the country especially in Adeiso in the upper west Akyem district and the NGO is in the capacity of supporting them up to 2017 to bring all these challenges under control whiles producing to feed the agro industry.
