Farmers Must Adopt Good Farming Strategies

By Nana Ama Sarfo

Madam Elizabeth Fokua, a lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University has noted that farmers need to engage in good marketing strategies to enhance their sales as marketing is key in their profession.

According to madam who spoke to Krobea Asante on the Rite Morning Ride, most farmers do not take farming as a business and this goes a long way to affect the sales of their goods.

‘Farmers need a good marketing strategy to help them sell and gain profit,’ Madam Fokua noted. According to her, a research conducted in Piase in the Ashanti Region revealed that the major problem of palm oil distillers for instance is buying gallons in which to store the palm oil, at Gh c 50.

This amount, they contend is beyond their means, a situation which they find expensive to meet. To compound their woes, potential buyers of their produce do not buy it because of improper marketing strategies due to poverty.

Madam Fokua therefore tasked farmers to adopt the right marketing strategies to boost their sales and maximize their profit.
