Farmers in Asikasu to fight any investor on their lands

The people of Asikasu in the Lower West Akyem Municipality have gone wild over the attempt by the chief to sell their lands for cocoa farming to an investor for rubber production.

Reporting the incident to Rite FM on the Agric Forum program last Saturday, Nana Opambour Bonsu Boateng, the youth organizer for Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) who was at the scene said a man claiming to be the chief the area with which the society does not recognized him as their chief is trying to sell their lands to foreigners for rubber plant cultivation.

He said the incident resulted into a riot between the farmers and the police when the agitated farmers    were protesting against the selling of their cocoa lands to be used for rubber plantation.

He stated that, they will not allow the lands to be sold, adding that they will fight anybody who will step on their land.
