Farmers Hopeful Of Bounty Rains In 2016

Mr. Joe Oko Agyemang, a pawpaw and pepper farmer at Kwamoso in the Akuapem North district of the Eastern region has been sharing his expectations as far as their occupation and the weather conditions are concerned in the coming year.

Mr. Agyemang who was speaking on Rite FM’s Akuafo Se Sen on Thursday said he and his colleagues in the farming sector have taken faith in the favourable predictions from the meteorological services that the farming sector shall experience enough rainfall this farming season.

This according to him is good news especially in the wake of the effects of the harsh weather conditions on their crops last season. He mentioned that they were badly affected and that too much of the sun without water affects the growth of the pawpaw plant.

The good news from the weather forecasters, he said has compelled and encouraged them to consider planning to nurse their pawpaw seeds.

He said many parts of the country suffered some shortage of pepper last year, a situation which is also attributable to the unfavourable weather condition during the time.
