Farmers frustrated with cheating market women

By Austin Ofori:

Farmers at Obawale in the Yilo Krobo district of the Eastern region have expressed worry about how market women from the cities are cheating them in their dealings with them.

In an interview with Rite news, the frustrated farmers told Rite news that market women have developed the habit of determining their own prices at which they want to buy foodstuffs from farmers and which they expect the farmers to comply with, whether those prices are good or not.

Lamenting further, the embittered farmers say that the market women carried their own prices in their pockets and determine what to pay to the farmers because farmers are forced to take monies from the traders in order to buy agro chemicals and fertilizers for their crops. This invariably is what motivates the traders to take advantage of that.
