By Austin Ofori Addo:

Most farmers in the country have registered their contentment with the onset of the rains for their 2016 farming activities. The farmers who experienced poor rainfall in the past year leading to poor harvest over the period have said they were now getting adequate rainfall for their activities, a situation they were satisfied with.

Speaking to Mr. John Adjakwah, a maize, cassava and oil palm farmer at Aboasa, a suburb of the Asuogyaman district in the Eastern Region on the Akuafo Se Sen segment of the Rite Morning Ride, he noted that though the rains have not come down in the desired volumes, it was still largely appreciable, citing the months of March and April as examples.

Meanwhile, Mr. Adjakwah lamented about pests which he complained destroyed their crops especially maize which end up being totally destroyed by these pests. He however added that they do not have any problem when it comes to the germination the maize seed.

Regarding the palm oil, he noted that though the extraction of the product used to be a problem, they were nevertheless grateful to the Asuogyaman district Assembly as well as Tigo which have donated two palm oil extraction machines to them.
