Farmers At Esaaso-Amanfrom Cry Over Bad Roads.

Farmers at Esaaso Amanfrom in the Eastern Region are in a state of despair due to the bad nature of their roads which invariably resulted in their farm produce going bad. This is because access to the market centers is very difficult as a result of the very bad state of their roads.

Mr. Tawiah Boakye, a farmer based at Esaaso revealed this in an interview on the Rite Morning Ride when he added that he and his colleagues were having a very bad farming season as a result of the bad nature of the roads. Their concern was that aside the fact that it took them several hours to reach the market centers such as Bodwiase and Timber Nkwanta, drivers also took advantage of the deplorable nature of the roads to charge them exorbitantly.

Mr. Boakye further added that the cocoa mass spraying exercise has almost collapsed because they don’t have enough machines to do the spraying. This compelled them to depend on only two machines for the spraying exercise which is woefully inadequate. This he added has always resulted in acrimonies between the farmers and the sprayers.

He equally lamented about the cost of the spraying which he said cost them Gh c 70 per month even though the sprayers do not turn up regularly for the spraying exercise.
