Estate Developers Dragged To Court Over Destruction Of Dodowa Pineapple Farms

The unending debate concerning the manner in which estate developers are said to be taking over farming lands still continue. In the event, the question of choosing between food and home, crops up.

In a latest development, a group of pineapple famers located in Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku district of the Greater Accra region are not happy about the manner in which some Estate developers are taking over their farming lands.

This was expressed by Madam Philomina Adjagbatey a pineapple farmer at Dodowa in an interview with Rite news. The worried woman said that some unknown people have illegally sold their lands without their knowledge to some estate developers. This according to her has resulted in the destruction of their farms which is a total of ten acres by these developers.

According to her, they rented the said piece of land for ten years which was still within the time frame and wondered why the estate developers should use money to wrestle from them what rightly belongs to them. According to Madam Philomina Adjagbartey, they have involved the police and the agricultural officers about the situation at hand which has led to the case being taken to the courts.

She added that that they have lost more than Gh c 3000 arising out of the damages caused to their farms by the developers, adding that the destruction resulted in the mixing of the suckers with the soil.

On a sigh of relief however, miss adjagbartey said that the estate developers had been found guilty by the courts and that they were just waiting for the compensation money to begin her farming business all over again.
