Election Headquarters: Mahama gets massive 95.1% endorsement to contest presidential elections in 2016

John Mahama has been retained by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest presidential elections in 2016 with a 95.10% endorsement.

Official results by the Electoral Commission say the President, who contested unopposed in Saturday’s Presidential primaries polled 1,199,118 ‘Yes’ votes as against 61,836 ‘No’ votes, representing a paltry 4.90%.

The results represent polls from 265 of a total 275 constituencies.

In an acceptance speech, President John Mahama said the overwhelming endorsement has filled him with “strength and encouragement” to lead the party in 2016.

President Mahama would be seeking another term next year, after beating his main contender, the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a close contest in 2012.
