Eggs Contain Essential Nutrients – Lecturer

Miss Gloria Otoo who is a Lecturer at the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana has eulogized the health and nutritional benefits of eggs which according to her is a very healthy source of and which contains all the essential nutrients needed by the human body for healthy growth and development.

Madam Otoo who spoke on Rite FM’s Food, Safety and Nutrition segment on the Rite Morning Ride described egg as a complete food and proceeded to describe its physical as well as nutritional composition.

‘Eggs have two parts which include the white and yellowish parts and the yellow part of the egg which is the yolk is more nutritious than the whitish part,’ she told host Nana Ama Sarfo and noted that eggs are not expensive and so everyone can afford it.

According to her, eggs contain nutrients like proteins as well as vitamins which is found in the yolk. She mentioned protection of the eyes from night blindness as one of the key benefits derived from egg consumption.

Madam Otoo also stressed on the need for children to be fed with enough eggs as compared to adults who may not need it in same quantities as children.
