The Eastern regional Minister, Hon Boasiako Sekyere has called on authorities and other stake holders in charge of road transport  and the national road safety commission to create educational programs to help train and educate drivers in various regions as a measure to help eradicate the spate of rampant road accidents in the country.

The Minister made this speech during the 5th National Road Safety Awards organized by the National Road Safety Commission in Koforidua. The eastern regional road safety manager, Kwasi Yirenchi said, road safety awareness week (RSAW) is a program observed in November every year.

He said RSAW is a national event that seeks to combine nationwide effort to remind the entire populace on critical road safety issues and to highlight awareness and the need to address those issues at policy implementation and road user’s level.

He said the program is meant to educate drivers and transport unions to heed to the advice and policy implementation in order to aid accident eradication in the   country.

Furthermore, authorities and drivers in an interview appreciated the program as one of the best measures to aid and combat accidents in the country.

Meanwhile, some other aggrieved drivers also raised concerns about the poor and bad nature of roads in the country.
