Easing COVID-19 Impact On Aged, Queen Mother Donates Food Items, Face Mask To Needy Women In Manya Krobo

A score of aged and needy women including widows in the Odumase community, the capital of Lower Manya Krobo Municipality was giving some assistance to sustain their life as Ghana continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

At the foreground of the Odumase Presbyterian Church gust house, Hionor Manye Mamle of Jebiam has distributed food items including rice, cooking oil, canned fish, tinned tomatoes and spices among others. The rest were detergents for washing and bathing, boxes of matches and mosquito coils

According to Manye Mamle, her kind gesture was a result of difficulty she has noted old women and widows in the community are going through.

Despite her eagerness to embark on the act frequently, she has appealed to fellow queen mothers to seek similar supports for their subjects.

“I wish to be doing this regularly, but for the fear of coronavirus I have stayed back. However, I pray for opportunities to enable me to support my people,” Manye Mamle told Rite FM.

“And let me also appeal to my colleague Queen Mothers that though there are no stool lands attached to the work, we need to make a move to solicit for support for our community,” she added.

In her appreciation remarks, about 65 years Mami Blorkey was thankful to Manye Mamle and her team for the timely donation as she broke silence over the hardship coronavirus has brought her. On the part of another beneficiary in a humble appeal, government (Her Excellency the First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo) should come to their aid for socioeconomic survival since the COVID-19 impact on their life was becoming unbearable.

According to her, “we are farmers and businesswomen, who own our private lands, and with little financial assistance we either hire services of farm laborers or go into small scale business for a living.”
