Dressmakers, Fashion Designers Acquire Skills in Cloth Manufacturing

The Business Advisory Center (BAC), under the Rural Enterprise Programme of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, has had a three day engagement with dressmakers and fashion designers in batik tie and die training at the Star Oil filling station, Somanya.

Head of the Business Advisory Center, Mr. Reindolf Akuoko Amoaning delivering a speech at the workshop said, the BAC is working towards providing additional skills to dressmakers on a small scale basis to serve as optional means of generating revenue.

Mr. Akuoko noted that, statistics available indicates that dressmakers are functional mostly during occasions such as Easter, Christmas and traditional festivals.

Meanwhile, economic and daily demands are always on the rise.

According to the Business Advisory Center boss, the batik tie and dye project for the dressmakers would equip them produce quality fabrics for their customers.

“Customers bring their own fabrics from outside that may be of greater advantage if our own tailors and seamstresses can afford to come up with their own kind of fabrics, as an additional support to their profession,” he stated.

The Business Advisory Committee has opened its arms to embrace everybody.

“The Rural Enterprise program is extended to the other community members who are jobless. It is an open forum for everybody in the society who is ever ready to acquire any employable skills to ensure a good standard of living and to reduce poverty rate in our Ghanaian societies.”

In an interview with Rite news, he mentioned that, the Business Advisory Centre in collaboration with the National Board for Small Scale Industries are not only limited to training dressmakers but also include other occupations of all categories; farming activities, barbers, bead makers and designers and cassava processors would benefit from the training projects.

The training ended Thursday 1 February, 2018 with with assurance to the public that the office of BAC is always open  for all interested parties within the Yilo Krobo Municipality for free registration to access the their programmes.
