Displaced Fulani Find Haven In Asesewa

Following the recent spate of clashes between the locals of Agogo and Fulani herdsmen in the town, affected Fulani herdsmen have moved from Agogo to various part of the country to find pasture for their animals. One of their destinations however, has turned out to be Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo district in the eastern region.

Speaking to Gbebi Andrews who is Assembly Members for Odometa Electoral Area, he revealed that the Fulani nomads were now at Assesewa and that they have set up base within the communities. That aside, the assembly member has also accused the herdsmen of disregarding the rules and regulations that binds the local people and the communities in which they find themselves.

Gbebi Andrews did not also take kindly with the Fulanis whom he claimed were destroying farmlands and farm produce as well as mischievously setting fire to farms in order to prepare the grounds for the growing of fresh grass for their cattle.

An enraged Mr. Gbebi also accused the Fulani herdsmen of criminal activities such as rape, murder as well as the destruction of farmlands across the country.

On the way forward, Mr. Gbebi noted that the assembly members of the area including the DCE have already sat down with the regional minister, Mr. Antwi Boasiako Sekyere which has resulted in the deployment of 150 security personnel from the immigration, army and police to Asesewa and its environs in order to maintain peace.
