Residents in Manya Kpongunor and its environs, a suburb community in the Lower Kanya Krobo Municipal in the Eastern Region are crying for refuse free surrounding following what they noted as living in filth.
According to residents, refuse containers at various points in the area were over-hipped without conveying them to their appropriate place by Zoomlion workers.
Manye Dodoe speaking to Rite FM’s reporter Amisah, said persons living around the area find it difficult as eating and breathing has become unnatural with high smell filthy containers and gutters all over the place.
She then called on the Municipal Assembly to come to their assistant to help conveyed the refuse away noting, that in the fight against covid-19 needs cleanliness.
A man who reside in Agormanya also added that the challenge of filthy and dirt has become a canker in the vicinity.
“My follow up to Zoomlion and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the municipality, has it that waste disposal site at Kpadorm is full,” the man said.
“We are calling on authorities to take immediate action on the matter to save residents living within the area to be free from contracting the deadly coronavirus disease,” he lamented.
Speaking to Mr Golden Amevor, Sanitation and Environmental Health Director for the municipality confirmed the situation to this portal, saying; the disposal site was full because three districts, Lower Manya, Yilo Krobo and Asuogyaman send refuse there.”
But Mr Amevor said, he called for assistant from the region to press the refuse down.
