Accra, June 15, GNA – A 19-year old Driver’s Mate, Samuel Nii Lartey Botchway was on Monday sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year old girl at Lotto House Agege, in Accra.
Samuel, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was sentenced by the court Presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang-Budu on his own plea.
The facts of the case as presented by Prosecuting Police Inspector Grace Bandor are that, the complainant is Samuel Annor, the grandfather of the victim, and they both live at 205 Dansoman.
She said the convict is a driver’s mate and also lives at 205 Dansoman.
She told the court that on May 20, 2015, at about 1830 hours, the victim was sent by her grandfather to buy bread but kept long in coming back.
Police Inspector Bandor said a neighbour came to inform the complainant that he saw the victim entering the convict’s room.
The prosecution said, upon her return, when questioned, the victim told the complainant that she went to visit the convict, who had sex with her.
A report was made to the Dansoman police and the victim was medically examined. After investigations the convict was charged with the offence.
