Continuous Existence of FAW: Blame It On MOFA –Nana Ohene Mensah Jabs

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has been accused for wrongful supply of chemicals for the combat of the Fall Army Worm (FAW).

Former member of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research into entomology section, Nana Ohene Mensah has on Rite FM this morning blamed the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for its refusal to give farmers the right chemicals to get rid of the FAW due to their selfish interest.

“Because the leaders at the ministry have their commission on every fertilizer they bring to the farmers, they always bring the fake one; so they keep bringing it. This is selfishness,” he lamented.

He has further accused some other institutions such as the hospital for undue service following the Nation’s free health delivery system.

“They don’t give the patient right medicine at the hospital for the National Health Insurance card holders. The Food and Drugs Authority has also refused to approve medicines that would cure people but rather approved uncured ones due to their selfish interest.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Jonathan Otoo, a farmer has alleged that the government subsidize fertilizer to farmers isn’t helpful.

He narrated a practical situation, where he planted sweet pepper and applied a subsidized fertilizer at one half and a non-subsidize at the other half.

As a case study, the portion where subsidized fertilizer was applied yielded less produce compare to the other.

“I have complained this to the Agric director in my district but nothing has been done over it,” he said.
